JC Rose eNewsletter

President's Notes

In the last newsletter from JC Rose, I discussed two industry papers that came to light this Spring.  The last article was regarding the Exhibitor Bill of Rights.  This time, I have chosen to address the Exhibit Industry Council white paper on Best Practices.

For the purpose of background information, five industry associations were the founding members of Exhibit Industry Council.  Their goal is to increase industry awareness of issues affecting all parties, and establish and promote Best Practices among those parties.  I personally feel this is one of the best ways to grow and sustain expositions and trade shows as part of a company's marketing mix.

I sincerely hope that you will take the time to read the nine page white paper. Below are bullet points of its main topics.  Also, please contact me if you have any questions or concerns about the issues at hand.  I would like to know your thoughts and opinions.

1. The Show Services Business Model
2. Bundling
3. Exhibitor Discounts
4. Material Handling Surcharges
5. Hidden Benefits
6. Forced Shipments
7. Exclusive Facility Contracts
8. GSC Conduct
9. Show Organizer Responsibility
10. Exhibit House and Third Party Contractor Responsibility
11. Exhibitor Responsibility

As an advocate for fairness and open dialogue among industry players, I am here to help all of us achieve our individual and corporate goals and objectives.  Enjoy the upcoming holiday and have a great rest of the summer.

Upstate Young Professionals Hangar Party 2010

Though wind and rain threatened to put a damper on the event early in the evening, the Greenville Jet Center hangar still hosted around 350 young professionals from all over the Upstate.  JC Rose again assisted PULSE with the 3rd annual party through sponsorship of logistical coordination, set-up labor, and decor. Local restaurants and vendors donated food, beverages, and music- which created a festive atmosphere to kick off the summer.  Thank you to all who made the party on June 1st a success!  We are already looking forward to next year!

Client Spotlight

Cleva

Cleva is one JC Rose client who has put our three-year rental contracts to good use.  For their 2010 show season, their contract was up for renewal and they commissioned a new custom rental booth.  It is a sharp combination of truss, fabric graphics, and banner stands.  They took advantage of flexible shelving options to display their product, and the individual banner stands make it easy for Cleva to extend their reach to smaller events.

Grow Expo

May 24-25th was the Greenville Chamber of Commerce's annual Grow Expo, held at the Carolina First Center.  This year, the business to business trade show, which was open to the public, was held in the main hall of the convention center. Approximately 250 exhibitors and 3,000 attendees participated in Chamber meetings like the Sales Roundtable and Business After Hours as well as walked the show floor.  JC Rose & Associates was a sponsor of the event and acted as the General Service Contractor, supplying logistical coordination, furniture and display structures for the Chamber's event graphics.  It was quite the success and we look forward to making 2011 bigger and better!
